The Rio Limpio Valley is beautiful – it still rains enough. But slash and burn agriculture is practiced here. And that is "the big issue" for the future of the valley. The forest area decreases every year. But what options do the poorest farmers have?

Rio Limpio is a small town in the mountains in the Dominican Republic next to Nalca de Maco National Park. We are 700 meters above sea level, and the highest peak is Nalca de Maco; almost 2000 meters. Much of the old traditions have still been preserved in the area and it has its special individuality.
